Nearly three years after New Jersey legalized medical marijuana, the first dispensary in the state started seeing patients Thursday, December 6, NJ.com reports. Several factors contributed to the delay in the opening of the Greenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair. Republican Governor Chris Christie had concerns about the rules. He repeatedly stressed he did not want New Jersey to resemble Colorado or California, which have minimal rules about who can have access. Problems with screening potential dispensary operators also slowed down the process.
