African-American adolescents who live in public housing aremore than twice as likely to smoke as other U.S. teens, according to a studypublished in Addictive Behaviors and reported by HealthDay News.

For the study, researchers surveyed more than 500 blackteenagers living in public housing in three U.S. cities. The youths werequestioned about their attitudes and habits regarding tobacco use, symptoms ofdepression and delinquent behaviors.
