Friday, February 7, marks the 14th annual National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD), a national HIV testing, treatment and awareness initiative focusing on African Americans. This year’s theme is “I am my brother’s and sister’s keeper. Fight HIV/AIDS!” Activities are being held nationwide in support of this awareness day. Although only 14 percent of the U.S. population, nationwide almost half of all new HIV cases every year and nearly half of all people living with the virus overall are black.
