Boom!Health’s board of directors has appointed Jose Davila as the president and chief executive officer of the Bronx, New York, nonprofit community health center known for fighting HIV and drug abuse, according to the group’s press release.

Boom!Health focuses on alleviating social and health problems facing Bronx residents, including HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C virus (HCV), homelessness, poverty, hunger, obesity and drug overdoses.

Davila and Robert Cordero became co-presidents of the organization in August 2013 when Boom!Health was created from the merger of the Bronx AIDS Services and CitiWide Harm Reduction. According to the press release, Cordero recently stepped down to pursue other interests.

Since the merger, the new organization has expanded rapidly, including building a five-story wellness center in the south Bronx.
