The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering limiting the amount of salt that different foods are allowed to contain.
According to an MSNBC.com article, the average American eats 50 percent more sodium than the maximum recommendation. Cutting the amounts of salt allowed in processed foods could prevent thousands of deaths from cardiovascular disease each year.
