Women who have high blood pressure have three times the risk of having type II diabetes as women who have normal blood pressure, according to a new study. Researchers examined more than 38,000 female health professionals for more than 10 years, and after adjusting for factors known to increase diabetes risk – including age, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, body mass index, exercise, and family history of diabetes—they still found the threefold increased risk.
