School season is here, and allergy flare-ups aren’t far behind. Manage autumn allergens with these tips from The American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, as reported on by HealthDay.

•    Before school starts, schedule a doctor’s appointment to ensure asthma symptoms are controlled.
•    Discuss allergy triggers and how to avoid them with your child.
•    If your child has asthma, be sure he or she carries an inhaler at all times. In addition, include an epinephrine kit for life-threatening allergies.
•    Inform school staff about your child’s asthma treatment plan, triggers and medications.
•    Investigate school conditions that may cause allergy problems for your child, such as cafeteria food.
•    Discuss seasonal and swine flu vaccination with your pediatrician.
