On Thursday, Virginia Governor, Timothy M. Kaine, announced that the state would be the second in the country to require all 6th grade girls to get vaccinated against HPV, the sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer. This decision comes on the tails of a debate surrounding whether or not the decision to vaccinate girls should be left to parents, instead of the government-- and whether the vaccine encourages pre-marital sex.
