Blueberries may help prevent colon cancer, according to a new study by researchers at Rutgers University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The study found that a natural compound in the fruit is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that helped prevent cancerous colon lesions in rats. According to the American Cancer Society, African American death rates from colon cancer are about 40 percent higher than whites.
