Having more than three drinks of wine, beer or spirits per day raises a woman’s risk of breast cancer by 30%, according to a new study. Kaiser Permanente researchers, who conducted the study, say this is the same increase in breast cancer risk that one would face from smoking a pack of cigarettes per day. The researchers also say that red wine is no exception – three glasses of any wine per day resulted in increased risk. The study examined data on more than 70,000 women. Those who drank one or two drinks per day had a 10 percent higher risk of breast cancer than women who drank less than one drink per day.
