Obama Reelection Protects Health Care Reform Law
The reelection of President Barack Obama will protect the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. the health care reform law) from repeal, CNN reports. Passed in 2010, health care reform was a major issue in the presidential campaign. The Republican challenger Mitt Romney had promised to repeal “Obamacare” if he was elected. Upheld by the Supreme Court earlier this year, health care reform will not be fully implemented until 2014. Many of its provisions have already gone into effect, such as forbidding health insurance companies from denying access to people with pre-existing conditions.
