What are the symptoms of IBS?

Not everyone experiences symptoms of IBS, and it’s not clear exactly what causes the condition. Women with IBS often have more symptoms during their periods. Here’s a list of common symptoms:

 

  • Diarrhea;
  • Constipation;
  • Belly pains or cramps, usually in the lower half of the belly;
  • Gas or bloating;
  • Harder or looser stools than normal;
  • Whitish mucus in your stool;
  • Feeling that you haven’t finished a bowel movement.
