The Checkup Checklist

Before going to see your doctor for your next checkup, here are four things you should do, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

  1. Review your family’s health history, and let your doctor know whether certain illnesses run in your family.
  2. Check to see if it’s time for you to do any general screenings or vaccinations, such as a mammogram, Pap test, prostate exam or colon cancer screening.
  3. Write down a list of issues and questions you have about your physical, mental or emotional health to discuss with your doctor.
  4. Talk with your doctor about anything you are planning to do in the future that might affect your health, such as cosmetic surgery or a weight loss program.
