National Women Touched by Addiction Day


On July 23rd National Women Touched by Addiction Day will be recognized. On this day Mending Hearts will lift up women who have faced addiction firsthand or have felt its effects through others. The public is invited to gather on Seigenthaler Bridge in Nashville, TN at 7pm to hear speakers and live music. A social media campaign will also take place that will encourage others to share their testimonies. Lifting just one finger shows support for an entire community of women who have felt the effects of addiction. On July 23rd, we show our support to those who have been touched by one of life’s greatest hardships. If possible, please use hashtags #WTBAday #OnefingerOnefamily! Vanderbilt will produce videos that provide education and will tackle the stigma of substance abuse that will include Trina Frierson, founder of Mending Hearts, Piper Kerman, creator of Orange is the New Black, Dr. Danny Winder, Director of Vanderbilt Center for Addiction Research, Dr. Erin Calipari, Researcher at Vanderbilt Center for Addiction Research.
