I have only recently been diagnosed with GERD, but it is severe and requires daily medication. Currently I am using Zantac 75. I have been reading volumes on doctors and others saying how detrimental it is to take these medications long term, but they don't offer any alternatives that work. I spent a month on a modified diet, lost weight, etc., but the severe burning remained. I have never been in favor of "learn to live with it" mentality, so at the moment, meds are the only way live.
