The great outdoors is not so wonderful when you’re experiencing runny eyes, sneezing, swelling and itching like so many hay-fever sufferers. If you want to avoid an allergic reaction to pollen this summer, the American Lung Association has just what you need to stay fever free.

Here are some of their tips:

  • Refrain from outdoor trees, shrubs, and other plants that pollinate and plan indoor activities.
  • To manage hay fever symptoms run air conditioners, air purifiers and take antihistamines.
  • People with severe hay fever issues should use a dust mask when outside for long periods of time.
