Oh the stories I could tell, having been infected in 1981. Diagnosed in South Dakota in 1987 while in grad school. Professor found out my status before I did. Professor black listed me. Could not get any information at the National Institute of Health's library about the gay plague. Read about Reagan praying to God in the oval office thanking God for a disease that killed gays. Could not get decent medical care in Montgomery County, Maryland. Moved to San Francisco bay area. Found good care.

I hope ASO's across the country are reading this article. I've been pos since 21, I turned 50 this year. For the past 4 years I've requested my local aso to allow people under 50 to be welcome in their "LTS" support group. You have to be over 50. I was very disappointed that it fell on deaf ears as I'm volunteer, supporter, and a client. Now that I'm 50 I am eligible but have lost mmt desire to be part of the group. Reading this article validated my hope. Lts does not equal a person's age.
