Dear AB, you're completely missing the point while you're trying to restate the case as if race does have anything to do with the discussion. You would have to 1st prove that he refused to wear a condom in direct disregard to his partners requests, but instead he was convicted where his partners clearly don't use condoms in their own right anyway. It's a two-faced double standard meant to make the HIV-negative community feel victimized where their own lack of personal responsibility is at fault.

To johanne. Seriously? So you blame your ex for your infection. Just wondering is there were anything you could have done to prevent it.. Hmm .. Maybe use protection.. Maybe don't agree or consent to unprotected sex. Honey, reality is with that mindset you were nothing but a ticking bomb to get yourself infected .. Via your ex or anybody else you would hav had unprotected sex with. Start by blaming yourself and take ownership of the infection you brought upon you. only after then blame others.

You have to tell people that you have HIV before having sex, its there right. I don't feel bad for him at all. I wish my ex would of told me, I know have HIV, we love n trust the other person, if he has any respect for others, he would of told them are at lease wear a condom

What's sickening is that you think it's okay to put a person in a cage, "in jail for the rest of his natural life", over a disease. Any disease. Especially not one that is no longer lethal if treated. It's bigotry like this that makes people hide their status, that makes them pretend they are still normal-- often, this means they stay untreated and thus contagious. Don't justify your bigotry toward HIV by saying you're not racist/classist; it's the same thing, or worse.

Are you people fu$ked in the head? If this man knowingly had unprotected sex and hid the fact that he was HIV positive then he deserves to have his asd thrown in jail for the rest of his natural life, failure to disclose HIV to a sexual partner is downright EVIL, and I dont want to hear this BS about racial and economic oppression crap, I dont care if the person is PURPLE, disclose your god damn status or go to jail, this is sickening

This is nothing but tragic and Michael Johnson should not be put in jail. Why is he responsible for other people having unprotected sex with him. It takes two people and there is no excuse for anyone blaming someone else for infecting them. You have to be living under a dangerous veil of denial to have unprotected sex with anyone these days. I have been HIV positive since 1985 and we did not have the knowledge back then to not have unprotected sex. This man is not a criminal.

As a 60yr old gbm H.I.V. pos, time and time again we older gays warn you young men to protect yourself, but we are told we don't want to hear about the 80's,grinder is quick sex,so the men charging him didn't protect themselves, how long do they think they could continue without getting infected,in the 80's and 90's we were just were trying to survive, now we are charging each other in court, this is what gay rights have come to,use protection every time you deal with a stranger, grow up.

I was just released after serving 9 years, on this charge, in MO prison. Flat. At trial, my defense, backed by medical science well known at the time, was that it was not possible to infect. I knew this. Top HIV doctors at the time volunteered to testify, and did, but were ignored completely. The DA told the jury that it did not matter I was not trying to infect or "thought" I could not. You would not believe what prosecutors can twist and fabricate. Missouri is openly bigoted. So sorry for him!
