Wow, I had no idea as to the prevalence and gravity of this disorder. Definitely need to keep spreading the word and awareness of sarcoidosis. Great first step with this article.

My mother was recently diagnosed with sarcoid. Doctors say she was really lucky she actually showed symptoms because most people don't until it's too late. She's doing well now but the steroids she has to take definitely take a toll on her body. I didn't know Bernie Mac had it also! That's crazy. Thinks for bringing this illness to light.
Thanks for writing this. I am wondering if it's connected to polluted air, as many African Americans are disproportionately located in areas in which environmental pollution is quite high. For example, an incinerator would be built next to a black neighborhood over a white neighborhood (environmental racism). Just a thought as a I read through this.

very informative. i definitely believe the diseases of today are environmental. A great medical journal environmental justice would be a great resource for those afflicted and looking for more research and support information.
