Nonprofit health care provider Kaiser Permanente (KP) has launched the "Kaiser Permanente HIV Challenge," an effort to push providers and clinics to improve access and results of care, according to a KP statement. KP has demonstrated HIV care results well above the national average. It has lowered mortality rates, quickly brought patients into HIV-specific care and helped them maintain high adherence and viral control; it has also ensured equal mortality or medication disparities for white, black and Latino patients. The HIV challenge seeks to share the methods and tools that made those results possible with other health care providers.
