I enjoyed the article by Mr. Head. I've suffered with depression since the late '80s and I am a believing Christian but it began as postpartum depression that I denied for years. I eventually found some relief through spiritual warfare however I continue to take medication medication.

I am researching essays and materials for a project on mental health in the black community and this was definitely a refreshing read. For the topic to be discussed by a fellow african american sufferer is exactly what we (our community) needs to begin the conversation and bring this issue to the forefront in an impacting way. Thank you John Head.

I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Head on this subject. The African-American community needs to come to the realization that clinical depression, bi-polar disease cannot be healed by just going to church and finding Jesus. Especially today, given all the political turmoil in this country, African-Americans need to understand the seriousness of depression and related illnesses. It is mind boggling that no one has done any kind of definitive study on this vitally important subject.
