How to Tackle the Common Cold

Did you get a flu shot but still find yourself battling the common cold? Do you feel like you are always on the brink of getting sick, constantly dealing with a sniffle, sore throat or nagging cough? Cold and flu season is here, and one of the best ways to defend your body against the season’s viruses, bacteria and germs is to fortify your immune system, reports MSNBC.com.

Some tips for preventing the common cold:
-Stock up on colorful fruits and veggies, which are great sources of antioxidants, including beta-carotene, vitamin E and vitamin C.
-Foods like carrots, apricot and broccoli help maintain the skin and mucous linings in your nose and lungs, which can help your body fight off germs.
-Cut back on foods that are high in saturated fat – they can increase your vulnerability to colds and the flu.
