The Weight-Sleep Connection

Do you get enough sleep? If not, it may due to how much you weigh. Researchers from Warwick Medical School in England reviewed existing literature to conclude if there truly is a connection between how much people weigh and their average sleep duration. They found that obese adults were 60 to 80 percent more likely to sleep five hours or less a night compared to those of average weight.

"This study is important as it confirms that this association is strong and might be of public health relevance. However, it also raises the unanswered question of whether this is a cause-effect association," Francesco P. Cappuccio, the study’s lead author said in a news release.
