Making Noise About Kids’ Hearing Loss

About 5 million U.S. children—approximately one in eight—suffer from noise-induced hearing loss. However, this condition is preventable, according to the American Academy of Audiology.

Hearing loss from playing personal music players too loudly can accelerate the hearing loss that is normally associated with aging, according to hearing audiologists.

The academy has launched a campaign called Turn it to the Left to help children and parents learn how to prevent it. To learn more, visit the American Academy of Audiology’s website here.
