President Barack Obama has established a working group on the intersection of HIV/AIDS, gender-related health disparities and violence against women and girls, according to a White House statement. Drawing on a range of public, private and community resources, the group will integrate HIV prevention and care and use evidence-based approaches to address gender-related health disparities and violence that impacts low-income and underserved communities. Lynn Rosenthal, the White House adviser on violence against women, and Grant Colfax, MD, the director of the Office of National AIDS Policy, will cochair the group.
