The NAMES Project Foundation, the custodian of the AIDSMemorial Quilt, seeks volunteers and financial sponsors to help bring the Quiltto Washington, DC, this summer, according to a NAMES statement. The Quilt will “blanket”the capital region during the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in June and during theXIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) in July. Sections of the Quiltwill be displayed on the National Mall and more than 40 additional venues. TheQuilt currently consists of more than 47,000 panels representing the lives of94,000 people, and it weighs about 54 tons.
