Flu Vaccinations Save Elderly Lives

A recent study in New England’s Journal of Medicine suggests that flu vaccines reduce the number of hospital visits and deaths in Americans 65 and older—contradicting past studies suggesting the shot had no benefit to older people. The report, conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs, found that the number of pneumonia hospitalizations were cut by 27 percent and flu-related deaths by 50 percent.
