Post-Heart Attack Care Disparities

Black people on Medicare who have a heart attack are less likely than their white counterparts to have procedures like angioplasty, which opens up their blood vessels and would make them less likely to die within a year, according to new study. Researchers looked at 1.2 million black and white Medicare patients and found that disparities existed even when patients were admitted to hospitals equipped to provide specialized coronary procedures.
