Lonely Tonight? It May Be Your Genes

A recent study published in Genome Biology claims researchers have located a genetic stamp for loneliness, which may partially explain why constant feelings of solitude may be bad for people. By studying a group of 14 people (ages 50–67), the authors believe the gene—more active in some than others—promotes inflammation and cell growth, which have been linked to poorer health and faster aging.
