Up in Smoke

People who smoke are 50 percent more likely to develop dementia than those who don’t, according to a new study.  Dutch researchers examined almost 7,000 people over the age of 55 and found that current smokers had a much higher chance of developing dementia (a decline in cognitive function because of brain damage or disease) than people who never smoked—and even those who’d smoked in the past but quit.
