Solange Knowles Says “Yes, Yes, Yes to Safe Sex”
Singer/songwriter Solange Knowles is partnering with MTV’s Staying
Alive Foundation and The Body Shop on the multiplatform “Yes, Yes, Yes
to Safe Sex” campaign, which launched April 14 in New York City.
Targeting youth under the age of 25, it aims to promote responsible
sexual behavior while at the same time raising funds for HIV awareness
programs around the world. (Watch video.)

Eating Disorders Don’t Discriminate
Contrary to popular belief, eating disorders are a growing problem among African-American women and girls. RH chatted with University of Southern California professor Michelle Goeree, whose new study found that black girls are 50 percent more likely than their white counterparts to develop bulimia.

African Americans remain the fastest-growing segment of Americans with HIV. The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 56,300 people
contract the virus each year in the United States—and that 45 percent
of them are African American. POZ, Real Health’s sister magazine
